Stainless Steel Medical Gas Cabinets Manufactured for East Midlands Ambulance Service

East Midlands Ambulance service are a valued customer of ours to whom we supply both stock and bespoke Controlled drugs cabinets. The service approached us over a year ago, to ask us to cost stainless-steel sheet metal medical gas cabinets. These were to store the gas bottles which are used in their ambulances.

These sheet metal cabinets will be situated at various sites throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire that the East Midlands Ambulance service operate from. The sites are satellite bases where Ambulances are stationed to allow them to respond quickly to all parts of their area. These are equipped with the supplies required to restock the ambulances and have facilities for the crew to rest and refresh. The sheet metal cabinets are to contain and securely store gas cylinders which are used on the ambulances. The cabinets enable crews to replenish empty gas cylinders with full ones from the store. The brief was a stainless-steel sheet metal cabinet 1460mm high x 1105mm wide x 650mm deep. The cabinet was to have two doors with a three-point rod lock together with a hasp and staple to enable it to be locked when not in use. Half of the width of the cabinet was to have pigeon hole type compartments to allow the horizontal storage of small gas cylinders for easy access by crews.Stainless steel medical gas cabinets

It was a very simple pricing exercise and a quotation was quickly submitted to the customer.

We were pleased to hear our price was accepted and an initial order placed for three of the stainless-steel sheet metal cabinets.

Two colleagues then visited the customer to meet and discuss the final specifications so we could ensure their requirements were met fully. We then prepared a working drawing which we submitted to the client for their final approval. Once approved the parts required were ordered and the laser cut blanks produced. These blanks were bent to the required form using a press brake. The component parts were tack welded together, checked and then fully welded. The cabinet was polished to remove weld discoloration, assembled and packed ready for shipping to the customer.
