Held at London’s eXcel centre, the Clinical Pharmacy Congress 2015 is the fourth annual Clinical Pharmacy Congress and held over the 24-25th April.

The Clinical Pharmacy Congress is home to 2,000 delegates and over 120 exhibitors. The Clinical Pharmacy Congress 2015 is classed as the sector’s largest and most important event for clinical pharmacy professionals.

For us at Pharmacy Medical, the Clinical Pharmacy Congress was a resounding success. At last years show, 2014, we had on display our selection of controlled drugs cabinets, medicine cabinets, our MDS trolley and pharmacy consumables.

For the Clinical Pharmacy Congress 2015 we will be carrying on a similar theme, however showcasing some of our new products too. On the stand will be our bedside cabinets, dispensing trolley as well as our controlled drugs cabinets and consumable items. We will also be showcasing, for the first time to the public, our new design of MDS trolleys.

It is specifically designed to be fitted to the floor beneath a worktop for optimum use of storage space.

We carry out the whole manufacturing process ourselves from the forming of the Laser cut blanks right through welding, powder coating, to final assembly. CDC 906 Controlled Drugs Cabinet is manufactured from 2mm steel and features two  6 Pin Euro-profile cylinder locks incorporating Anti-pick, anti-drill, anti-bump and fire resistant features. The cabinet has two adjustable internal shelves, three door shelves, a volume of 157 lts and a weighs approximately 35kg.

The unit is floor fixed using four 10mm sleeve anchors fitted through four 3mm anchor plates. Anchor plates are a requirement of The Misuse of Drugs( safe custody) regulations 1975. They serve to reinforce the material around the fixing hole and help prevent any forced removal of the cabinet from it’s fixing.

• Pencil or Marker pen

1. Prior to fixing controlled drugs cabinets their position must be carefully considered in order for them to comply with “The Misuse of drugs (safe custody) regulations 1975” . Please see our previous Blog which will assist you, also you may wish to  visit our web page which will also help you in fixing controlled drugs cabinets.
2.  When the position has been chosen unpack the Controlled drugs cabinet from the box noting the Red envelope containing the keys and instructions.
3. Using the keys open the cabinet door.
4. Depending upon the size and weight of the cabinets purchased you may require additional help to avoid straining yourself. Please ensure you are comfortable with the weight of the unit prior to lifting, it may be necessary to construct some temporary support for the cabinet whilst fixing controlled drugs cabinets in position.
5. Hold the controlled drugs cabinet up to the wall or if floor mounted on the floor and mark through the fixing holes on to the wall or floor.
6. Ensure the wall where the cabinet is to be fixed is flat if it is not and the cabinet is tightened it may cause the cabinet to distort. This distortion will effect the operation of the door.
7. Remove the Controlled drugs cabinet and place safely out of the way.
8. Ensure  there are no electric cables, water pipes or other obstructions where the holes are to be drilled. If in doubt consult and expert.
9. Using the hammer drill set on “hammer” and with the 10 mm Drill bit, drill holes to a depth of approximately 80 mm in the positions previously marked in 5.

10. Place the Controlled drugs cabinet back in position and insert the Sleeve anchors (enclosed with the Controlled drugs cabinet) taping them in the holes with the hammer so they are up to the inside back face of the cabinet.
11. Using a spanner tighten the nuts on the sleeve anchors until they are tight.

12. Finally check the fixings are tight and the cabinet is secure.
13. Fixing controlled drugs cabinets to the floor is almost identical to fixing controlled drugs cabinets to a wall. Fixing to the floor though is easier as you are not holding the weight of the Controlled drugs cabinet whilst fixing it.
14. The processes of Fixing Controlled Drugs Cabinets is now complete and you should have a secure cabinet that complies with “The misuse of drugs (safe custody ) regulations 1975”.

Our  CDC101 Controlled drugs cabinet has a volume of approximately 43 litres and is one of the more popular Controlled drugs cabinets in our range. It has been designed for use in smaller medical practices where Controlled drugs are dispensed but  smaller amounts need to be held at the practice. This type of cabinet is popular with vets, schools and some larger care homes.

All our cabinets including the  CDC101 Controlled drugs cabinet are now produced incorporating  the new 6 Pin euro profile cylinder lock which has Anti-pick, anti-drill and anti-bump resistant features. This lock supersedes the seven lever mortace locks  fitted to our Controlled drugs cabinets previously. The new locks are independently tested and  meet BS: EN1303:2005. They are stamped with a Kitemark KM53292. They also meets the MLA vulnerability test for cylinders and come with a  10 Year Lock Cylinder guarantee from manufacturer.  The Key Retention (Key cannot be removed when the cabinet door is open) is a feature required by the Misuse of Drugs (safe custody) regulations 1995 .

The CDC101 Controlled drugs cabinet is designed to be wall mounted and to facilitate this it has four 11 mm Diameter holes in the rear. Each hole has the required Anchor plate fitted and the cabinet is supplied with four M10 x 75 Sleeve Anchor bolts. This CDC101 Controlled drugs cabinet has more shelves per litre than some of the other cabinets in our range. It has four door shelves and five internal shelves, two of which are adjustable and removable.The two removable shelves allow storage of a single large bottle of Methadone in the space remaining.  The Cabinet is finished in a wipe clean Polyester powder coated finish RAL 9003 texture white.
